Silly story vitamins go off in a week

Did you see the story last week about vitamins going off.
Here is the feed back from the National Association of Health Stores

The Daily Mail today printed yet another negative story about vitamins. This time they reported that they degrade after a week if kept in humid conditions.

Graham Keen of HMFA replied as follows:

All food supplement packaging in the UK clearly states that products should be stored in a cool, dry place. In addition, quality supplements are subject to rigorous manufacturing processes, including stability testing which helps to identify and overcome any degradation issues. Food supplements are then coated to help protect the compressed ingredients, and are subject to 'best before' dates appropriate to their overall stability.

If stored correctly, there is no doubt that vitamin and mineral supplements will retain their beneficial effect until their 'best before' date.

Trading standards have done various tests as to the claims of the contents on the label during the years and to my knowledge there has never been a problem with the natural health products available in health food stores.
Again I am not sure who is generating these negative stories but wish the news paper could be a bit more sensible.
